Church Plant

We have a church plant located in Vilhena, Brazil. Vilhena is located in the easternmost municipality in the Brazilian state of Rondonia. Less than fifty years after becoming the district capital in 1969, Vilhena’s population has grown from 800 to nearly 78,000.

The church started in 2007 and formally merged with Steele Creek a few years later. Pastor Joel oversees the church plant and regularly connects with the leadership. The lead campus pastor, Marcus Carvalho, has a heart for shepherding, and he and his wife, Raquel, have a marriage ministry. The church has a new building and a congregation of approximately 250 people. Among their areas of ministry are a children’s ministry which runs Vacation Bible School and a children’s camp, as well as a ministry to the indigenous people group located roughly 200 miles away.
